The Company
An excellent opportunity has arisen with one of the Europe’s instantly recognisable manufacturers, a leading manufacturer, specialising in the FMCG marketplace. They have manufacturing facilities across Europe and are a secure and supportive organisation. They are currently looking to expand the engineering maintenance capacity on site, within this automated manufacturing process, producing upwards of 450 million units per year.
Purpose of role :
To provide technical support across the Site Services and Mixing Plant departments, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant operations through planned and reactive maintenance, engineering support, and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
The Site Services Technician plays a key role in maintaining and supporting all site utilities, including the mixing plant, building systems, and essential infrastructure (e.g. compressed air, HVAC, gas, water, and electrical systems).
Typical daily duties include
* Perform daily walkarounds to visually inspect site conditions
Check critical systems (e.g., HVAC units, compressors, boilers, lighting, BMS alerts)
* Monitoring the DI plant and working with external contractors to ensure efficiency and planned maintenance is carried out.
* Carry out modifications to existing site electrical services and install new circuits. This will be working on 400V/230V.
* Repairs to lighting across site.
* Monitor water temperatures for Legionella compliance (hot/cold outlets, sentinel points)
* Check for leaks, damage, or faults in building fabric (walls, ceilings, flooring)
* Complete scheduled PPM tasks (e.g., filter changes, lubrication, emergency light testing)
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests such as: building fabric repairs (e.g., ceiling tiles, door frames, damaged flooring) and plumbing issues (e.g., leaks, blocked sinks, toilet faults)
* Test and reset fire alarm panels or emergency systems after planned drills/alerts
* Log daily maintenance tasks in CMMS or site records
* Update water hygiene logs, flushing records, and fire safety checklists
* Complete and file permit to work forms for any on-site contractors
* Review and sign off toolbox talks, or risk assessments as needed
* Meet and brief contractors working on-site
* Issue/close out permits and ensure safe working practices
* Escort external service providers or specialists around the site
* Verify contractor work quality or flag issues to manager
* Check BMS or control panels for alerts, alarms, or system faults
* Adjust heating/cooling settings if needed based on site conditions or user requests
* Report any energy or utility anomalies
* Support teams with office moves, small repairs, or furniture adjustments
* Restock or check consumables
* Report or escalate stock shortages or materials needed for upcoming work
* Attend morning briefs or toolbox talks
* Communicate progress and handovers to shift partners or supervisors
* Liaise with site teams (e.g., QA, production, EHS) to avoid conflicts or disruptions
