Symphony Healthcare Services has a vacancy for a BANKMedicines Management Technician (Pharmacy Technician).

As a Bank Pharmacy Technician, you will provide coverduring staff absences, playing a key role in supporting the safe, effective,and efficient use of medicines within the practice.
You will work closely with our existing team of pharmacy technicians,pharmacists, GPs, prescription clerks, and wider clinical team to ensurepatients receive the best possible pharmaceutical care.
We work as a hub, based at South Petherton MedicalCentre. You may be asked to work at other sites in our South Somerset West Primary Care Network (PCN),including Crewkerne, Stoke-Sub-Hamdon and Somerton along with supporting ourprescription clerks who are based at The Meadows Surgery in Ilminster.
Ideally you will have experience of working in primarycare and be familiar with our clinical system, Emis Web.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to use yourinitiative, have a positive attitude, a can-do approach towards problemsolving, and be a good team player.
The rate of pay for this role will be £14.55 - £15.45 per hour and a starting salary will be offered based on previous experience.

Main duties of the job
To support Symphony surgeries in providing safe, effective and efficient systems for medicines reconciliation on transfer of care, and to support the repeat prescribing systems. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by supporting systems to improve the continuity of care, supporting improvements to streamline the repeat prescribing processes, minimising clinical risk and reducing waste. You will be enrolled on and actively participate in a recognised post-registration pharmacy technician educational pathway.

Job responsibilities
To support the practice pharmacist and clinical teams, including:
* support the practice pharmacist with medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols and to update patients medical records and prescriptions.
* carry out medication switches, dose optimisation and medicines synchronisation to ensure safe and cost-effective prescribing
* initiate repeat prescribing (eRD) for appropriate patients
* provide advice to GPs, staff and patients in changes to prescribing in order to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality and cost effectiveness
* participate in medication audits and QOF quality improvement projects
* support practices to meet QOF indicators
* support patient safety with high risk drug monitoring and other safety scorecard indicators

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BTech. City and Guilds or Apothecary Hall,
* NVQ level 3 with BTech in Pharmaceutical Sciences
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Experience
* At least 2 years practical experience of working as a pharmacy technician in primary care, community or secondary care setting
* Experience of providing pharmaceutical and prescribing advice
* Practical experience of computerised recoding systems
* Good clinical pharmacy knowledge
* Experience of prescriptions processes and systems
* Experience of audit and quality improvement projects
* Enrolled on a recognised pharmacy technician educational pathway
* Experience of systems to support patients in Primary Care setting.
* Good clinical pharmacy knowledge.
* Experience of project implementation.
* Good communication skills, written and oral.
