About the Role
We are searching for a hands-on and dynamic Workshop Manager to oversee all service and maintenance operations in our busy Banbury workshop. This vital Manager position is perfect for someone looking to positively impact a growing operation by driving efficiency and leading from the front.
Your Impact (Job Responsibilities):
Lead and manage a team of fitters/technicians, including workload planning, mentoring, and performance reviews.
Perform hands-on diagnostics, repairs, servicing, and maintenance on plant equipment to manufacturer standards.
Coordinate workshop operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, workflow, equipment readiness, and accurate service records.
Manage parts, tools, and consumable stock levels, including supplier communication and cost control.
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining a safe and organised workshop.
Oversee regulatory inspections (LOLER/PUWER) and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, equipment reliability, and service quality.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimise downtime.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To excel as a Workshop Manager and to build on your experience as a Service Manager, you will need:
Previous, demonstrable experience working within the plant hire industry.
To be confident in leading and mentoring a team of people.
