Overview
As a Retail Optical Assistant at Vision Express, you’ll assist our customers in finding and selecting eyewear that meets their needs. You’ll help with frame adjustments, repairs, and fittings, and you may perform some pre-screening eye examinations and administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, handling phone inquiries, and processing payments.
Your goal is to provide excellent customer service and ensure customers leave happy with eyewear that fits properly and meets their vision needs. You’ll contribute to our mission of helping customers See More and Be More by providing tailored and effective service to maximise their visual potential and enhance their lifestyle.
Although the hours of this role are advertised, we’re open to discussing flexible options to fit your ideal working week, whether around the school run or a compressed week.

What are we looking for?
* Provide excellent customer service with personalised assistance and the ability to address needs and concerns
* Great communication and rapport building to translate professional terminology into language understandable to customers
* Exceptional attention to detail in maintaining accurate customer records, prescriptions, and requirements to provide the best service and product recommendations
* Ability to work as part of a team with colleagues across the store
* Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations in a fast-paced retail environment
* Confidence, passion, drive and enthusiasm
* Knowledge and understanding of optical products and services, including frames, lenses, and contact lenses, and the ability to inform customers and promote products to help achieve store targets
* Arrange and maintain the store’s look and feel, keeping it organised and stocked in line with marketing guidance
Responsibilities
* Assist customers in choosing eyewear, carry out frame adjustments, repairs and fittings
* Support pre-screening eye examinations where applicable
* Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering customer queries on phone lines, and processing payments
* Provide a welcoming, professional service and ensure customers leave with eyewear that fits and meets their vision needs
* Contribute to a visually appealing store environment and maintain stock in line with store guidance
