Job Summary
The Head of the Department is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational management, and academic excellence within their designated department. Responsibilities
* Provide visionary leadership to develop and implement departmental goals aligned with institutional objectives.
* Oversee curriculum development, ensuring programmes meet academic standards and industry requirements.
* Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
* Lead, motivate, and support teaching staff through professional development initiatives and performance reviews.
* Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.
* Collaborate with other departments to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and organisational growth.
* Monitor academic performance metrics and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
* Ensure compliance with institutional policies, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Represent the department at institutional meetings, conferences, and external stakeholder engagements.
Requirements
* Proven experience in an academic leadership or managerial role within an educational setting.
* Strong background in teaching, with a recognised qualification in education or a related field.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams, inspire staff, and foster professional development.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for engaging diverse audiences.
