Major Recruitment are currently seeking a quality engineer to join our well established and growing client based in Huddersfield The Quality Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the company's sheet metal fabrication processes, products, and services consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. Working closely with the SHEQ Manager, the Quality Engineer will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), while driving compliance, efficiency, and a culture of right-first-time manufacturing across the business. Key Responsibilities Support the SHEQ Manager in maintaining ISO 9001 certification and is compliant to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards Carry out internal process, product, and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with company standards and customer requirements. Investigate non-conformances, implement root cause analysis (RCA), and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Monitor quality KPIs (scrap, rework, customer complaints) and prepare reports for management review. Support inspection and verification of fabricated sheet metal parts, including dimensional checks, material traceability, and finish requirements. Develop, review, and update quality documentation such as procedures, work instructions, and control plans. Provide training and guidance to production teams on quality standards, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work with Engineering and Production teams to ensure new product introductions (NPI) meet quality requirements from prototype to full production. Liaise with customers and suppliers on quality-related matters, including complaints, returns, and supplier performance. Promote health, safety, and environmental compliance in line with the company's SHEQ policies.Skills & Experience Previous experience in a Quality Engineering or similar role within a sheet metal, fabrication, or manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS and auditing practices. Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is advantageous. Experience with root cause analysis, problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone), and corrective action implementation. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and GD&T. Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment (e.g., callipers, micrometres, height gauges). Good IT skills (MS Office, ERP/MRP systems). Strong communication skills, able to work cross-functionally and liaise effectively with customers and suppliers. A proactive and detail-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement.Qualifications HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline (desirable but not essential). Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 Lead/ Internal Auditor) preferred.Working MOnday to Thursday INDAC
