Senior Specialist Safety (Remote based in Europe)

Remote: living close to one of our manufacturing sites in Oss, Heist op den Berg or Cramlington, relocation is not offered.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Specialist Safety, based in Europe and working from our site in Heist (Belgium), Oss (Netherlands), or Cramlington (UK) will support Organon’s ambitious safety commitments. The candidate will also provide safety compliance and technical support to Company facilities globally regarding different safety topics, like our permit-to-work program, fire safety, safety culture program, but with a primary focus on machine safety, and process safety. We are looking for a passionate and collaborative expert; someone skilled at influencing without authority and who operates in alignment with our core values.

Main responsibilities

* Assist in the development and execution of Organon’s short & long-term Safety ambitions and goals.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of Organon’s safety programs and SHE management system.
* Provide technical safety support to Company facilities globally to prevent injuries and illnesses and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
* Provide subject matter expertise on diverse safety topics, like fire safety, safety culture program, high-risk work (Permit-to-Work program) etcetera, and with a focus on machine safety, and process safety.
* Monitor, evaluate, and implement where necessary, external safety trends, including developing policies, legislation, international industry codes and advocacy positions.
* Develop innovative tools and training programs for implementation of SHE programs and best practices.
* Collect and analyze safety performance data to track progress against Organon’s goals.
* Develop and manage knowledge and best practices within the organization.

Your profile

* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Safety Science or related technical discipline.
* Minimum 5 years of applied professional safety work at an industrial facility or in a corporate role supporting SHE programs.
* Deep knowledge of Machine Safety (e.g., ISO, EU Machinery Directive/Regulation) and 3-5 years of experience in implementing Machine Safety programs in an industrial environment.
* Experience with leading and implementing (electronic) Permit-to-Work and/or Process Safety programs and projects.
* Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to present information clearly and concisely through all levels of an organization.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to quickly adjust to changing situations and to synthesize complex information.
* Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken.

Preferred:

* Knowledgeable of international safety policies, regulations, and codes.
* Experience/knowledge with Fire Safety, Safety Culture programs.
* Experience with implementing EHS Management Systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
