About the Role
These fully supported Pharmacy Technician posts are ideal for individuals soon to qualify and register with the GPhC. The role involves working with pharmacy and UHS teams across all pharmacy areas and at the ward level.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Applicants must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Desired qualifications include:
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3, supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge (e.g., BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NPA).
* Applicants working towards the relevant qualifications will be considered.
Responsibilities
The post involves dispensary-based training at Southampton General Hospital and The Royal South Hants Hospital. Key duties include:
* Dispensing, labeling, and checking medications accurately.
* Issuing medications to patients.
* Working between Royal South Hants and Southampton General Hospital dispensaries.
* Working between the Medicines Management Team and Southampton General Hospital dispensary.
* Working primarily at Southampton General Hospital Dispensary.
Career Development
Within the pharmacy department, staff are supported to complete the Band 4/5 progressive framework by collecting evidence towards core competencies. Upon completion and sign‑off, the post will be upgraded to Band 5. Applicants who already meet the required competencies may be offered a Band 5 contract upon appointment.
