Higher Level Teaching Assistant
The role:
* Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
* Promote pupils' independence, self‑esteem and social inclusion
* Provide support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement
Person Specification1. Qualifications
Essential
* Enhanced DBS clearance
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English
Desirable
* First‑aid training, or willingness to complete it
2. Experience, Knowledge and Understanding
Essential
* Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting
* Experience working with children or young people
* Experience planning and delivering learning activities
* Experience planning and leading teaching and learning activities (under supervision)
* Good understanding of school policies and procedures relating to health and safety, behaviour, attendance, equal opportunities and child protection
Desirable
* Experience working with colleagues and external stakeholders (e.g. external agencies)

* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils and adults
* Skills and expertise in understanding the needs of all pupils
* Knowledge of how to adapt and deliver support to meet individual needs
* Subject and curriculum knowledge relevant to the role, and ability to apply this effectively in supporting teachers and pupils

* Knowledge of safeguarding guidance and requirements
* Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to support learning
* Understanding of roles and responsibilities within the classroom and whole‑school context
