About the Quantity Surveyor (Maintenance) Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for the full commercial life cycle of multiple maintenance and refurbishment projects across Bristol and the surrounding area. From pricing and procurement to forecasting and final accounts, you’ll play a key role in ensuring profitability, cost control, and compliance across every project.
Expect to work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and clients—while being fully supported by a regional commercial team that values initiative and sharp commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and control the financial and technical aspects of live contracts
2. Carry out measurement, pricing, and evaluation of tenders and variations
3. Oversee cost control, value engineering, and profit maximisation strategies
4. Produce monthly CVRs, forecasts, and detailed financial reporting
5. Manage subcontractor and supplier contracts from negotiation to payment
6. Raise and submit applications for payment
7. Monitor procurement schedules and supply chain performance
8. Maintain clear, accurate records and reporting throughout project lifecycles
9. Provide commercial assurance from tender stage through to cash collection
10. Ensure Health & Safety compliance in all contractual undertakings
What We're Looking For
11. Qualified Quantity Surveyor with HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent
12. Proven background in maintenance, refurbishment, voids, or fabric upgrade projects
13. Strong experience working with bills of quantities, SORs, and D&B contracts
14. Comfortable managing both direct labour and subcontractor accounts
15. Skilled in CVR reporting, procurement, and cost forecasting
16. Confident communicator and collaborative team player
17. High attention to detail with strong commercial instincts
18. Proficient in Excel and familiar with modern construction management tools
19. Able to work independently while supporting wider commercial objectives
