Purpose of the role
An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Craftsman Apprentice, software biased, to join the engineering team at Ketton Cement plant.
This is an excellent and challenging opportunity to join a company that leads the way within the cement industry with 3 cement plants across the country.
Not only will the selected individual work with skilled and experienced engineers, but they will also gain qualifications as a mechanical engineer.
The apprenticeship duration is 42-48 months, including college days and on-site work.
Qualifications and Development
* All apprentices are required to achieve a minimum of:
* Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (College)
* Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (College)
* Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (In-Company)
* Internal and external training to gain experience, knowledge, and qualifications for future careers.
* Skills learned include reading data and documentation, condition monitoring, planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of systems such as mechanical, fluid & pneumatic, electrical & electronic, and process control equipment.
* Supporting installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment where applicable.
* Contributing to business improvements and career progression within or outside the company.
Key Points
* Years 1 and 2: 36-hour week (7.30am – 3.30pm Mon to Thurs, 7.30am – 11:30am Friday)
* Years 3 and 4: 40-hour week (7.30am -3.30pm Mon to Fri)
* Salary increases annually based on national agreement grades (Year 1 = 35%, Year 2 = 45%, Year 3 = 60%, Year 4 = 85%).
Job Purpose
* Adhere to health and safety standards and company policies.
* Work alongside experienced engineers on the manufacturing plant.
* Perform maintenance and repairs on cement plant equipment.
* Gain comprehensive knowledge of the cement manufacturing process through detailed planning and experience in various areas.
Accountabilities
The Electrical Apprentice will work within the Electrical Maintenance team and collaborate with the onsite software engineer. The team comprises 1 Electrical Engineer, 1 Electrical Supervisor, 4 Electrical Craftsmen, and 1 Software Engineer.

* 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4, including English, Maths, and Science, or equivalent
