Hours: Part time (20-25hrs per week over 4 or 5 days)
Location: Newport NP19 (with flexible options where appropriate)

What you will be doing
We are looking for a proactive and confident HR Advisor to partner with managers and support colleagues across the organisation. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you will provide expert HR advice, influence decision‑making, and help drive a positive employee experience.
You will work closely with the leadership team, supporting the full employee lifecycle while contributing to ongoing improvements in our HR practices, systems, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
HR Advisory & Employee Relations
* Provide practical, solutions‑focused HR advice to managers on a range of employee matters
* Support and manage both informal and formal employee relations cases
* Promote best practice and consistency in people management
Recruitment & Onboarding
* Partner with managers to deliver fair, inclusive, and efficient recruitment processes
* Ensure a smooth and engaging onboarding experience for new starters
HR Systems, Data & Payroll
* Maintain accurate HR records and systems
* Produce regular reports on KPIs, absence, turnover, and compliance
* Liaise with payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee changes
Policy & Compliance
* Review and update HR policies in line with current legislation and best practice
* Support managers in understanding and applying policies effectively
* Support wellbeing initiatives and occupational health processes
* Contribute to internal communications and employee engagement activities
Qualifications
* Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* Confident communicator, able to build relationships at all levels
* Discreet and professional approach to handling confidential information
* Strong IT skills, including HR systems and Microsoft Office
* Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
* CIPD level 5 (or working towards)
* Experience within a public service or operational environment
