Tillett Consulting Engineers is a friendly, client-focused business based in York that offers a full range of structural services including feasibility and option studies, structural analysis and design, assessments and structural surveys. We cover but are not limited to the residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial sectors. I am currently searching for a junior civil engineer, recently graduated or up to 2 years of experience, who is motivated and ambitious and would be excited to join a growing business and develop their career under the mentorship of a Chartered Civil Engineer.
Role Overview
As a junior civil engineer at Tillett Consulting Engineers, you will work on a diverse range of projects such as new office buildings and warehouses, alterations to existing properties such as extensions and loft conversions, barn conversions and much more. You will be provided with professional guidance and support from Tim Tillett CEng MICE, offering mentorship towards achieving professional accreditation through the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the design, analysis, and delivery of civil and structural engineering projects.
* Support project planning, site investigations, feasibility studies, and structural inspections and assessments.
* Analysis and design of structures in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
* Prepare technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
* Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections to ensure project compliance.
* Assist in preparing reports and documentation for clients and regulatory authorities.
* Work collaboratively with senior engineers, architects, contractors, and clients.
* Ensure designs meet relevant safety and regulatory standards.
* Utilise software tools such as AutoCAD, Tekla Tedds and Structural Designer, and Microsoft applications to produce design documentation.
* Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities and work towards achieving professional accreditation.
Skills & Qualifications
* Master’s degree (MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, structural analysis software, etc.).
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* A keen interest in developing technical expertise in civil engineering disciplines.
* Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and professional growth.
