Location: Huddersfield (Hybrid)
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 DOE

Hybrid Working: Typically 5 days per month from home

A Huddersfield-based engineering business is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a varied, hands-on design role supporting the development of engineered equipment and systems used in high-spec, regulated environments.

You’ll work across the full design cycle, producing robust 3D designs and detailed drawings, supporting manufacture, and contributing to continuous improvement. The business currently uses PTC Creo and is in the process of moving across to Autodesk Inventor, so you’ll be comfortable working in Creo and open to adopting Inventor.

Key Responsibilities

Create 3D CAD designs, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings

Produce and maintain BOMs, part specifications, and supporting documentation

*

Support design reviews, engineering change control, and product improvements

*

Liaise with manufacturing/fabrication teams and suppliers to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective

*

Apply DFM principles to support production and build quality

*

Work closely with project/engineering teams to deliver to time, cost, and quality requirements

Requirements

*

Proven experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer / Mechanical Design role

*

Strong 3D CAD skills (Creo preferred, Inventor beneficial)

*

Good understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication/sheet metal, assemblies)

*

Able to produce accurate drawings with tolerances and clear technical documentation

*

Strong attention to detail and a proactive, collaborative approach
