The Opportunity:
At this exciting time in SRUCs development and growth, SRUC would like to appoint an experienced Marketing and Student Recruitment Officer.
This role will mainly work from the SRUC Oatridge campus in Broxburn, but also holds some responsibility for covering activities at the Elmwood campus in Cupar, Fife, and to support and contribute to activities undertaken by the whole Marketing and Student Recruitment team as required.
The role of Marketing and Student Recruitment Officer (MSRO) is critical to SRUC's vision. Student recruitment is an institutional priority, generating 38% of the organisation's income across SFC grant, student fees and education contracts. Poorly developed or ill-informed student recruitment poses a huge threat to the stability of SRUC, and its income generation and growth agenda.
The MSRO (Oatridge) has a focus on student recruitment to SRUC's college level and undergraduate courses (but will contribute to all student recruitment activity) and thus will liaise with a number of teaching staff and course leaders.
Each MSRO takes responsibility for recruitment from specific territories or target markets for SRUC. The MSRO (Oatridge) will work autonomously in their market, and also in collaboration with the whole Marketing and Student Recruitment team. The post involves frequent working outwith normal College hours, and travel with some overnight stays to facilitate participation in recruitment conventions, will feature.
This post is temporary, for one year in the first instance, pending a review of the structure of the Marketing and Student Recruitment Team.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
Student Recruitment
Create recruitment campaign plans and annual operational plans supporting the overall objectives of the Marketing and Student Recruitment team.
Accountable for the success of assigned recruitment events, whether face-to-face or virtual.
Attending recruitment events such as school careers fairs and agricultural shows and coordinating the required resources for these.
Managing on-campus Open Days and Offer Holder days.
Communicating with enquirers and applicants.
Event management: leading on local large external events as required.
Managing and planning recruitment activity.
Representing SRUC externally in a wide range of fora.
Taking responsibility for equipment and physical resources, such as cameras and display materials.
While this role has a local recruitment focus, working with the Marketing and Student Recruitment Team to recruit students to SRUC, at all levels and from all regions, will be required.
Marketing
Managing local advertising - scheduling and evaluating, working with external agencies and graphic designers.
Creative development of content (physical and digital) and activities. Working creatively to create, develop or source materials and resources to aid recruitment activity.
Content Generation
Planning, storyboarding, resourcing, filming and editing video content.
Coordination, content and monitoring of local online presence.
Being the owner of local digital and social media presence on the virtual student experience platform – monitoring, creating content, planning, scheduling, and evaluating.
Creating student stories (from interviews) for use in a variety of media.
Analysis and Planning
Monitoring, evaluation and review of activity, student recruitment and admissions figures, and campaign effectiveness.
Bring expertise and creativity to budgetary planning and the execution of budgets. Seeking out best value.
Undertaking market scanning, analysis and research when requested.
Ensuring an up-to-date knowledge of issues relating to higher and further education across Scotland and the rest of the UK.
Communication and Relationships
Maintain high levels of internal communication.
Relationship building with collaborators and stakeholders.
Leading, motivating, and persuading a wide range of staff and stakeholders.
Collaboration and coordination with the rest of the MSR and Communications teams – contributing to the whole Marketing and Communications remit.

Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should be educated to SCQF Level 8 (HND or above). A Marketing qualification or appropriate previous experience in recruitment, would also be considered.
