Health & Safety Advisor – Plymouth
£24 per hour PAYE / £30 per hour Umbrella
37 hours per week
Initial 6-month contract
Overview of the role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Health & Safety Advisor to support a South West-based housing provider with their corporate health and safety functions. This hybrid role includes a mix of home working, office attendance, and site inspections across a diverse housing portfolio.
The successful candidate will provide clear, consistent advice across the organisation, helping to maintain statutory and non-statutory compliance, develop robust risk management processes, and lead on inspections, audits, and accident investigations.
Responsibilities:
Deliver expert advice on H&S legislation, policy, and compliance across the organisation.
Lead on risk assessments, workplace inspections, and contractor safety audits.
Support development of safety policies, strategies, and procedures.
Investigate incidents and dangerous occurrences and provide recommendations.
Analyse accident/incident trends and deliver preventative strategies.
Work collaboratively with teams, unions, contractors, and senior leaders.
Prepare and present H&S reports for internal stakeholders.
Deputise for the H&S Manager when required.Requirements:
NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma or NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
Certified Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working toward it.
Significant post-qualification experience in a similar advisory role.
Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation across multidisciplinary environments.
Excellent communication, investigation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to lead projects and promote a positive safety culture.
