Offer description

Acorn Insurance are looking for an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking individual to join us as a Simplifai Automation Engineer within our Claims Technology & Transformation team. This brand‑new role is central to delivering our AI‑driven automation strategy, and we’re seeking someone who is genuinely passionate about using technology to improve the way we work and support our customers.

Role: Simplifai Automation Engineer

Location: Sevenoaks/Liverpool Offices on a hybrid working basis

Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm

Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

* Proactively identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency through the Simplifai Platform.
* Configure, deploy, and maintain AI Agents on the Simplifai Platform, ensuring they are trained, tested, and performing to a high standard across claims intake, processing, and customer communication workflows.
* Design and build automated workflows using Simplifai’s Flow Builder, connecting AI modules, business applications, and logic rules to automate repetitive tasks such as email sorting, document handling, and data routing.
* Train and refine AI Agents by tagging keywords, phrases, and intent within customer communications, setting up rules and action flows tailored to our motor claims operations.
* Utilise InsuranceGPT and NLU capabilities to automate claims summarisation, missing document identification, case similarity matching, and pre‑drafted correspondence.
* Where applicable, manage the Human In The Loop process, configuring oversight rules for low‑confidence outputs and high‑stakes decisions to ensure quality, compliance, and risk mitigation.
* Monitor AI Agent performance through Simplifai’s Analytics dashboards and Grafana, using real‑time data to measure accuracy, throughput, and ROI, and drive continuous improvement.
* Work closely with the Claims Technology Transformation Team, Projects, the AI Task Force, Operations and Senior Stakeholders to ensure Simplifai solutions align with business objectives and integrate seamlessly with existing claims systems.
* Support integration between the Simplifai Platform and core business systems via APIs, ensuring smooth data flow and process continuity.
* Become the internal subject matter expert on the Simplifai Platform, providing guidance, training, and support to colleagues across the business.
* Stay up to date with Simplifai product updates, new features, and emerging trends in AI‑driven insurance automation, continuously exploring how new capabilities can be applied to benefit the business.

Required Skills & Experience

* A genuine passion for AI, automation, and using technology to improve business processes – you will be someone who actively seeks out ways to make things better and is excited by the potential of AI in insurance.
* Experience working within motor claims operations, with a solid understanding of the end‑to‑end claims lifecycle, common pain points, and business needs.
* Comfortable learning and working in no‑code or low‑code platform environments – prior experience with specific AI tools is not essential, but a willingness and ability to learn quickly is.
* Ability to analyse data, interpret dashboards, and translate performance insights into actionable improvements.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against deadlines.
* A technical and forward‑thinking approach, always looking for the next opportunity to apply AI and automation to claims processes.

Desirable

* Prior experience with AI automation platforms, workflow automation tools, or intelligent process automation (IPA) solutions.
* Experience working with or training AI models, including natural language processing or understanding (NLP/NLU) technologies.
* Familiarity with the Simplifai AI Automation Platform or similar insurance‑focused AI tools.
* Knowledge of API integrations and how business systems connect and share data.
* Experience with C#, SQL, or other development technologies that would support deeper technical involvement in integration work.
* Understanding and appreciation of data security especially in the context of AI tooling.
* Experience in claims modernisation programmes.
* Knowledge of industry‑leading claims platforms or insurtech solutions.
* Hands‑on understanding of AI applications in insurance, such as fraud detection, triage automation, predictive analytics, or automated claims assessment.
