About the Role

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for helping us to create a better, cleaner environment for North Norfolk and doing the right thing for our communities, businesses and the environment.
Our Environmental Services team are responsible for delivering a range of front facing services, including in some of Norfolk’s prime visitor destinations, covering waste collections, street cleaning and grounds maintenance.
Please note that this is a fixed term contract starting in February 2026 for a period of up to 12 months.
About You
Each day in Environmental Services is different - a new query, service issue or work request that you will help resolve. You will assist in monitoring and managing the work of our contractors, ensuring the required performance is delivered and high quality outcomes achieved.
You will also help to ensure that the team and the Council meet our statutory obligations and ambitious objectives, so we are looking for an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills to deal with queries, complaints and contractual matters.
You will assist with providing information and advice to residents and community groups, with a view to increasing recycling and reducing waste to help us improve our recycling performance through promotion and educational work. Ideally you will have a good understanding of the legislation under which our services are delivered.
An ability to manage your own time and workload effectively is crucial, and your customer service skills must be professional and helpful even in the face of demanding and testing situations. You will need to be tactful, diplomatic and assertive with an ability to solve problems and make decisions using your experience. You will not be afraid of routine tasks, yet also flexible, resourceful and full of initiative.
You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and be able to plan and organise your work and multi-task in order to meet stated deadlines. You will also have good literacy and numeracy skills and competent IT skills.
