Job overview
The post covers management and leadership to a service made up of two core 24 sub-teams, based at King George Hospital and Queen’s Hospital respectively. The service comprises of a full MDT.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the team functions in line with clinical guidance and policy, as well as being responsible for the inception and oversight of service development in line with PLAN standards, NICE guidance, NELFT and BHRUT priorities for care of patients with mental health needs who present to local acute hospitals. An ability to form effective working relationships across both Trusts and with other partner agencies, will be essential to the success of this role.
Main duties of the job
1. Leading and supporting the Team to achieve PLAN Accreditation
2. Implementing service strategies, including workforce strategies to manage the increasing demand for care

4. Providing a highly visible, easily accessible presence to patients, relatives and carers

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436).
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The PLS Mental Health Lead will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating the service as follows
• Lead the development of the service by setting clear targets and expectations in conjunction with the Integrated Care Director, Assistant Director and commissioning arrangements
• Should ensure that NHS/Trust Policies, procedures and guidelines are carried out in routine practice.
• Management supervision of the clinical leads and business support officer, including Live RiO supervision, performance appraisal, identification of staff training needs and other staff or clinical issues that arise.
• Make appropriate arrangements for training and development of staff
• Facilitate clinical, managerial, team and peer supervision as appropriate
• Undertake regular appraisals of direct reports as per Agenda for change framework
• Facilitate regular business meetings
• Recruit, induct and follow probationary process for new staff and undertake exit interviews when staff leave
• Manage attendance, disciplinary and grievance matters effectively
