Senior Infrastructure Manager
Overview
The Senior Infrastructure Manager acts as the
subject matter expert
for a specific technology tower (e.g., Wintel, Unix/Linux, Virtualisation). They provide strategic leadership, technical authority, and operational oversight across complex infrastructure environments. The role combines
deep technical expertise

to drive service quality, stability, and long‑term technology evolution.
Core Responsibilities
* Technical Ownership & Governance
* Own and manage the full lifecycle of a specific infrastructure tower.
* Maintain detailed tower profiles, including vendor support status, risks, redundancy gaps, and technology configurations.
* Ensure adherence to infrastructure standards, processes, and governance frameworks.
"Each tower manager will own, police, drive and be seen as a focal point for their specific technology tower."
* Infrastructure Transformation & Programme Delivery
* Lead multi‑million‑pound infrastructure transformation programmes.
* Provide strategic guidance to Infrastructure Managers and influence architectural decisions.
* Act as sign‑off authority for high‑risk changes and new service introductions.
* Risk, Issues & Service Improvement
* Maintain a comprehensive risk and issues log with severity and likelihood assessments.
* Develop mitigation plans and prioritised recommendations to improve service performance.
* Drive infrastructure improvement plans focused on stability, resilience, and long‑term value.
* Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement
* Collaborate with Architecture, Service Management, Business Solutions, and suppliers.
* Sponsor supplier‑led programmes and influence technology decisions.
* Build strong relationships across service, commercial, and delivery teams.
* Reporting & Insights
* Produce executive‑level reporting and data‑driven insights for tower performance.
* Participate in cross‑tower forums to ensure visibility and alignment.
