Job Title: RF Communication Systems Researcher
Salary: up to £55,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Bristol or Stevenage (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 3-4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
The opportunity:
You will be part of an innovative, multidisciplinary team, with a focus on researching and developing new solutions, concepts, and techniques to support our future communication capabilities. We need a range of skills from researchers and technologists to system designers, engineers, technical project leads, and everything in between.
This role is for a researcher who will work at the very start of the product lifecycle, researching various techniques for application in communication systems, such as Next Generation communication algorithms, Software Defined Radio architectures, Quantum communications, Optical communications, A.I., and more.
What we're looking for from you:
Ideally, you will have experience conducting research and delivering new conceptual ideas. This experience may come from industry, academia, or both.
You will be able to work autonomously within a multi-skilled team with a good understanding and dedication to achieving research aims. You may also have the skills to perform technical investigations, provide problem assessments, and propose design solutions within a culture of innovative thinking.
We are looking for experience in any of the following skill areas:
1. Conducting research through literature surveys
2. Interpreting system requirements
3. RF / Microwave systems knowledge
4. Familiarity with digital signal processing / waveform techniques
5. Use of modelling tools such as MATLAB or Simulink
6. Awareness of embedded system design
7. Good communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality written reports and presentations to internal and external customers
8. Working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, and external organisations such as universities, suppliers, and customers.
