SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Newdale Primary School and Nursery, Telford Contract Type: Full-Time: Fixed term – until July 2026 in the first instance Salary : 29.83 hours per week, term time only. £13.26 per hour pro rota Start Date: As soon as possible About Us ‘A school of ‘doers, believers and achievers’ Newdale Primary School and Nursery is a vibrant, inclusive, and nurturing school where every child is encouraged to thrive. We are proud of our commitment to supporting all children with their learning and personal growth and we are now seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team. The Role We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to provide high-quality support to pupils with special educational needs. The successful candidate/s needs to be flexible and willing to work across any phase in school, including the current SEND Nest Provision phase. They need to be prepared to work across whole classes, with specific groups or on a one-to-one basis- this depends on the ever-changing level of need across school and the strengths of the successful individual. The successful candidate will also be required to support the lunchtime team with key children. Key Responsibilities Deliver targeted support to pupils with SEND, both in class and through individual or small-group interventions Assist in the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)/ Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing Support pupils with personal care needs when required, maintaining dignity and respect Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external agencies We are seeking someone who… Has a genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting children with SEND Is committed to safeguarding children Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience in a dynamic school environment Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills A sense of humour (a must!) Is flexible, proactive, and committed to continuous professional development Ideally has experience working with children with SEND (although training will be provided) Enjoys working with supportive parents, governors and the wider community And finally…someone who has big heart, can use their initiative and has a can-do attitude What We Offer A welcoming and supportive school community- Headteacher open door policy, regular 1:1s with headteacher, supportive appraisal process, parents as partners and a robust induction for new members of staff. Enthusiastic and inspiring pupils- Children that love being in school and are kind and helpful. A strong commitment to staff wellbeing and development- Yearly governor day (after first year of employment) where you get paid for a day off e.g. attending a wedding, Christmas shopping etc! Opportunities for ongoing training and CPD- Our TA team have weekly TA meetings to ensure they are receiving regular training. A culture of appreciation – Free tea and coffee at break times, occasional cakes & bakes and thank you emails. Visits: We will be running tours on Tuesday 14th and Tuesday 21st October 2025 at 3:45pm (please call the office on 01952 387720 to book a place on this tour). Though tours are not essential, we do strongly encourage them.
