SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistant to work in our fantastic SEN school based in Newport. Our school is a purpose-built special school on the outskirts of Newport that caters to students from 3-19 years of age. Our school supports young people with a range of additional learning needs including ASD, complex medical needs and severe physical disabilities. Educators that have previously thrived in this school have the enthusiasm and drive to work with children, have previous experience working with ALN and are flexible and can adapt easily.

Responsibilities-
- Ensure pupils are appropriately cared for and supported throughout the entirety of their school day
- Support teaching staff at the beginning and end of each day with helping each child to/from their taxi
- Get involved and be proactive. Start to recognise where you can help out
- Comfortable with elements of personal care with pupils
- Build a strong rapport with students, staff and parents alike
- Provide emotional and behavioural support to pupils throughout the day
Requirements-
* A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude, with the ability to remain calm and maintain a good sense of humour in a dynamic learning environment.
* A genuine passion for supporting learners with a range of needs, including those who benefit from practical, hands‑on sessions such as workshop activities, music-based learning, and bike maintenance.
* A Child and Adult Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (support can be provided to complete this if needed).
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register before starting the role.
* A full UK driving licence and access to personal transport.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
