About the Role:
We are recruiting on behalf of a supportive, inclusive two-form entry primary school in Hackney, London for a Year 6 Class Teacher.
This is a part-time permanent position, working Thursdays and Fridays. The role is ideal for a committed and enthusiastic practitioner who can deliver engaging lessons, maintain high expectations, and support pupils through key transition points at the end of Key Stage 2.
The school is located in a culturally diverse community and places children at the heart of everything it does. Pupils are happy, creative, and achieve well academically. The school welcomes Early Career Teachers (ECTs) as well as experienced teachers, with appropriate support provided.
Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or be working towards QTS (ECTs welcome)
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (Year 5 or Year 6 desirable)
• A strong understanding of the KS2 National Curriculum and assessment frameworks
• Good classroom and behaviour management skills
• A clear commitment to inclusive practice and pupil wellbeing
• Availability to work Thursdays and Fridays on a permanent basis
• Experience preparing pupils for SATs
• Ability to differentiate effectively for mixed-ability learners
• Confident use of formative assessment to inform planning
Key Responsibilities:
• Planning and delivering high-quality lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum, with a strong focus on Year 6 outcomes
• Preparing pupils for end-of-key-stage assessments in a balanced and supportive way
• Maintaining a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
• Assessing, monitoring, and tracking pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
• Working collaboratively with parallel teachers, support staff, and senior leaders
• Contributing to team planning to ensure consistency and continuity
• Communicating effectively with colleagues and supporting the wider school community
• Upholding safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies at all times

Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary of £50,474 is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to M6.
