Job overview

Clinical Support Worker - 72 hours in total

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Keswick Hospital, which is part of the Keswick and Solway ICC for HCA's to join the nursing team on the ward.

Keswick is situated in the Lake District National Park and is a hot spot for tourists. The Market Town is busy and full of shops, pubs and cafes, it is situated on the edge of Derwent Water at the head of the beautiful Borrowdale Valley.

We are looking for dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Support Worker's to work as part of our dedicated nursing team. The ward has 16 beds, we take patients directly from home or stepped down from the two Acute Hospital sites within the Trust. We specialise in rehabilitation for patients and End of Life Care.


Main duties of the job

Direct Patient care
Assisting and promoting independence in washing and dressing patients.
Assisting patients in their rehab goals.
Assisting with patients nutritional needs.
Caring for patients as they near the end of life.
Taking observations and uploading them onto Web V

The successful applicant should have their care certificate which is relevant to this post; however not essential to the right candidate. All training relevant to this role will be provided by the trust and by your new colleagues on the ward. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a changing environment and have good communication skills. You will be supported by the Registered staff on duty in the role. The post holder will be delivering nursing care covering a twenty-four hour period including public holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

* Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations knowledge of data protection legislation and health and safety at work legislation
* National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
* Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
* Undertaken relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers


Knowledge and Experience

* Experience of working in health or social care.
* Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings
* Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision
* Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation
* Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective team work
* Knowledge of Safeguarding
* Understanding work-related boundaries
* Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality
* Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies
* Nursing policies and procedures
* Evidence of understanding of Trust Business
* Experience of working in the Trust previously
