Overview

HCPC registered Principal Clinical Psychologist sought to join the Living Well Service. The role involves working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team co-led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and a Consultant Therapist. The MDT includes Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietetics, GP and admin staff. The service supports people presenting with Long COVID, other post-viral conditions, complex breathlessness, functional neurological disorder and other persistent physical symptoms. The Living Well Service is an innovative team offering opportunities for service development and involvement in shaping care for vulnerable groups who might otherwise fall through gaps in services.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

* undertake a range of assessments and provide intervention/support for patients with complex conditions including Long COVID, other post‑viral conditions, complex breathlessness, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and other persistent physical symptoms.
* support psychological formulation within the multidisciplinary team and provide direct and indirect support to patients and their families/carers.
* supervise colleagues, deliver training, contribute to leadership and service development.
* contribute to co‑development of the service and engage in research and audit to enrich practice.
* have the ability to engage in service development and potential remote working arrangements as agreed.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential

* Good Honours degree in Psychology.
* Post‑graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society.
* Registration with Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
* Clinical supervision training for supervising Doctoral trainees.
* Doctoral level advanced specialist knowledge of clinical psychology theory and practice, psychological therapies and their application, neuropsychological and psychometric assessment and interpretation.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practised within clinical psychology.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development as recommended by the BPS and HCPC.

Desirable

* Post‑doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
* Well‑developed knowledge of specialised therapies for specific difficult‑to‑treat groups.
* Knowledge of highly specialised therapies and assessment methodologies.
* Recognised qualification in supervision.
* Record of publications in peer‑reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books.

Experience

* Substantial assessed experience as a qualified and senior clinical psychologist, with substantial post‑qualification experience in the designated specialty or relevant transferable skills.
* Experience of specialised psychological assessment and treatment across a range of care settings and client groups with varying clinical severity.
* Experience of coordinating care within multi‑disciplinary care planning and of providing teaching, training and supervision.

Aptitude and Abilities

* High level of competence to work within the designated specialty and well‑developed supervision skills for Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
* Ability to communicate complex, highly technical information clearly to clients, families, carers and colleagues within and outside the NHS.
* Experience in providing consultation to professional and non‑professional groups and in maintaining professionalism under challenging conditions.
* Ability to use multi‑media materials for teaching and training; capable of effective workload management and collaboration with a wide range of colleagues; basic IT skills.
* Desirable: ability to speak Welsh; leadership and management skills; advanced IT skills.
