Exterior Lighting – Function Engineer
Outside IR35 | Hybrid Working | 35 Hours per Week
Our client is seeking an experienced Function Engineer to lead the development and delivery of exterior lighting functions, covering hardware, software, and communication interfaces. The role ensures the function is fully specified, tested, and integrated into the overall vehicle system, working closely with system architects and component owners.
Key Responsibilities:

Define and maintain Function Description and Requirements.

Manage the Function Delivery Plan, including verification and validation.
*
Test across ECUs, software, communication interfaces, and I/O devices.
*
Perform interface testing prior to full vehicle integration.
*
Report and support resolution of technical issues.
*
Collaborate with EE Infrastructure Architects on system diagrams (Wirkkette, boundary, block).
*
Map functional elements to components and regulatory requirements.
*
Recommend releases based on test evidence and fulfilment of specifications.
Required Experience:

ECU hardware/software integration
*
Function-based systems engineering
*
Cross-functional collaboration
*
Use of system architecture tools (signal cascade, boundary diagrams, etc.)
Skills & Qualifications:
*
Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
*
Requirements management and validation planning
*
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
*
German language skills (desirable)
*
Membership of a professional institution (preferred)
