About the Abuse Compensation Department
Our department is a national leader in the niche area of abuse law. We have been involved in landmark cases, specifically in abuse suffered in foster care and fought for a change in the law which allows an abuse claim to be brought before the Court regardless of when it took place. It is our belief that justice for child abuse survivors should be accessible no matter how long ago it happened.
We have acted as the lead Solicitor for large group of survivors who suffered abuse in children's homes and detention centres. We have been instrumental in the development of scheme cases which has enabled survivors of abuse, specifically Eastwood Park Detention Centre and Medomsley Detention who were unable to pursue their claims through the Courts to receive compensation for their experiences.
We regularly act for clients in both civil and CICA cases. We have formed good relationships with charities who support survivors of sexual violence and are an official sponsor of the charity Safeline. We have been successful in obtaining large compensation awards for our clients at both the review and appeal stages of the claims.
We also act for clients in relation to claims against the Church, Social Services, Religious and Sporting Organisations, Schools and Colleges.
We represent clients in pursuing claims through various Redress Schemes.
We are panel members of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers.
We are a corporate partner with NAPAC (National Association of People Abused in Childhood.)
