Are you a nurturing, patient, and compassionate individual with a passion for making a difference? Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Tutor to support a 16-year-old refugee in the SP4 area of Salisbury. This young person is at the beginning of their educational journey and is looking for a tutor who can provide a safe, encouraging, and empowering learning environment.
About the Learner:
1. Aged 16 and recently arrived in the UK as a refugee.
2. Non-verbal and communicates through alternative methods.
3. Eager to develop communication skills and independence in practical, everyday tasks.
4. Requires a tutor who can build trust and foster confidence through consistent, compassionate support.
As a Tutor, you will:
5. Support the development of communication strategies (, visual aids).
6. Encourage independence through practical life skills and structured activities.
7. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students.
8. Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
9. Record student progress and report on this weekly.
10. Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
11. Record attendance.
12. Be organised, dependable and creative.

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
17. Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with non-verbal learners or those with additional needs. Background in SEN, EAL, or refugee education is highly desirable. Calm, empathetic, and creative in approach. Able to commit to regular sessions and build a strong rapport over time.
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

19. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
20. Provide references upon request
21. Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
