Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on the day-to-day activities of the regime. This work sits alongside work on regulatory reform and is also likely to have a role in helping the team transition the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The role duties and responsibilities include:
* Waste classification technical leadership
* Technical leadership for Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve compliance
* Enhanced leadership of priority waste streams
* Providing technical support focusing on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
* Tackling regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra with circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
* Having a Hazardous Waste enforcement focus to support actions in the control strategy to reduce offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead the business on hazardous waste, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management.

Experience/skills required

Development opportunities and training will be provided.
