We’re offering a fantastic Modern Apprenticeship opportunity for a motivated individual to join our HR Shared Services, Payroll Team. This is an opportunity to be part of the payroll team, processing payments to all employees of Scottish Borders Council, alongside undertaking a professionally recognised qualification. You will gain hands-on experience, develop key Payroll skills, and work alongside experienced professionals who will support your growth and development every step of the way. Role Purpose As part of the apprenticeship you will be required to engage with a training provider to obtain the desired qualification in Payroll and have regular meetings with the supervisor and/or assessor. What you’ll be doing - Assisting with processing Starters, Leavers and Changes of contracts to ensure correct payroll payment. Assisting with processing employee claims, sickness, maternity and other family related periods of absence. Gain an understanding of payroll processing, audit and all the statutory processes and regulations that must be followed. What we’re looking for - A genuine interest in Payroll. Strong numerical, communication and organisational skills. Willingness to learn and contribute to a busy, supportive team. Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme. Essential - Good general education as a strong foundation for learning and development as well as IT skills to support and improve our systems. Excellent communication abilities to collaborate across teams and departments, with a positive and challenging approach to problem-solving and innovation Essential In line with Scottish Borders Council priorities, applicants must be aged 16 to 24 at the start of the Apprenticeship.
