About The Role
We are actively seeking a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic Technical Solutions Team at Halliburton. This team is responsible for implementing and maintaining the delivery platform across the Neftex subsurface evaluation product portfolio. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about building scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions using cloud technologies. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, engaging with application developers and operational teams to ensure seamless deployment, automation, and infrastructure management. Based in our Abingdon, Oxfordshire office, the successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing infrastructure to support core business applications and services.
Qualifications
* A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* At least 3 years of experience in building and maintaining distributed systems in on-premises environments, including private cloud and hybrid solutions.
* Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
* Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices.
* Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for operational automation.
* Knowledge of networking principles, including firewalls, routing, and security practices.
* Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
* Familiarity with public cloud providers like AWS or Azure.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
* Preferred qualifications include experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, knowledge of infrastructure security best practices, and familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible. Additional expertise in virtualization, data encryption, compliance standards, and working within distributed teams will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure supporting critical applications.
* Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring rapid and reliable releases.
* Create and maintain automation scripts for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks.
* Develop operational tooling and scripts to enhance monitoring, logging, backups, and incident response capabilities.
* Collaborate closely with software engineers to ensure seamless integration between application code and infrastructure components.
* Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability using appropriate tools and metrics, proactively addressing issues.
* Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues across various environments, minimizing downtime.
* Implement and enforce cloud security policies and best practices to safeguard infrastructure and data.
* Maintain and improve Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts and templates for consistent deployment and configuration management.
* Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives, contributing to continuous improvement.
* Document infrastructure architecture, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides for internal use and compliance.
* Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, automation frameworks, and industry best practices, proactively recommending enhancements.
