An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist who wishes to specialise in paediatrics to join Dudley Community Paediatric Physiotherapy Service.
We are looking for a physiotherapist, who wishes to develop their physiotherapy skills in the area of paediatrics. The successful candidate must have had a broad base of experience as a student and/or Band 5 rotations, including experience within the NHS.
Preferably the candidates will demonstrate some evidence of previous paediatric experience or working with children in a voluntary basis.
Main duties of the job
We offer yearly rotations within preschool, linking with neonatal services, children attending mainstream schools, musculoskeletal and special schools.
Opportunity to contribute to serial casting clinic, hydrotherapy, gait clinic, gym club and our in-house orthotics clinic to name but a few.

We have a well-established monthly in-service training programme for the whole team, with additional monthly training for our Band 5s &6s. As a new member of our team, you will have senior clinicians to work alongside and support you on a one-to-one basis as required. We have a package of competencies to help guide and support your progress.
We are supportive of the team accessing relevant training courses and additional qualifications that then benefit the whole service.
Job responsibilities
The job purpose is -
To assess and treat children in a variety of locations.
To treat children presenting with a variety of complex neurological/neuromuscular disorders and musculoskeletal conditions.
To educate and advise parents/carers and the wider MDT, to equip them with the necessary skills to promote children's physical development and appropriate handling.
To work with children and their parents/ carers and the wider team (where appropriate) to develop a personalised plan of care to support the achievement of their personal goals and enable greater participation.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Diploma/degree in physiotherapy
* NHS experience
* Registered with HPCP
* Knowledge of gait analysis and biomechanics.
* Post-graduate courses relevant to paediatric speciality
Experience
* Experience working with musculoskeletal conditions, neurology and respiratory
* Experience in NHS in acute and community settings
* Ability to prioritise and organise own caseload
* Ability to delegate work to assistants and students
* Work with children in a clinical or voluntary basis
* Experience of supervising physiotherapy assistants
Knowledge
* Experience of and ability to work as part of a broad MDT
* Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical risk
* Understanding of child development
* Knowledge of clinical audit
* Some knowledge of SEND and EHCPs
* Understanding of postural management
* Knowledge of orthotics
