Oracle’s product engineering teams are building critical services within Oracle’s next-generation public cloud infrastructure known as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). These services provide the foundation for businesses around the world as well as Oracle’s Cloud (SaaS) Applications.
The Platform
With revolutionary innovations in performance, availability, ease of use, and security, we designed OCI for reliability, predictability, and quality that the world’s largest companies and startups need. We combined the elasticity and utility of public cloud with the granular control, security, and predictability of on-premises infrastructure. Our customers can run demanding workloads and less compute-intensive applications in a secure and highly available cloud environment.
The Product
OCI Functions is a fully managed, multi-tenant, highly scalable, on-demand Functions-as-a-Service platform, deployed in dozens of data centers worldwide. Its deployment model supports a wide variety of use cases. OCI Functions is becoming the platform of choice for Oracle SaaS workloads, API Gateway for customer applications, and Data Science processing.
The Positions
Senior Software Engineer
We are seeking engineers with varying levels of experience to expand our team. Beginners should have a passion for learning, while experienced candidates should have skills in programming, networking, storage, internet protocols, and operating systems. All engineers can make significant technical and business impacts.
As part of our diverse team, you will solve and design solutions for distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services.
The Responsibilities
On a typical day, you will work in a small, agile team, doing tasks such as:
* Writing backend code in Java, Python, Go, or other modern languages.
* Using containerization and virtualization technologies like Docker, containerd, and Kubernetes.
* Deploying and operating software in data centers worldwide.
* Analyzing, diagnosing, and debugging issues across our stack.
* Maintaining and improving existing systems focusing on performance and operational efficiency.
* Building tooling and automation to scale operations.
You may also:
* Discuss technical problems and build consensus among teams.
* Design and implement new features or services for customers.
All engineers participate in operating and supporting the product in production, including a 12x7 on-call PagerDuty rotation, typically every 5-7 weeks depending on team size.
