Medical Science Liaison - Diabetes and Obesity
Location: North West of England- (Field based)

This role will cover North West of England and Republic of Ireland, the successful candidate will need to be based within the North West of England.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is specifically designed to support the in-depth, technical information needs of the wider Medical Affairs teams. Adhering to all governing internal and external requirements, procedures, and laws and always demonstrating good judgment. MSLs recognize and communicate feedback and insights of strategic importance and by facilitating scientific exchange between industry and the scientific community.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and effectively communicate deep scientific knowledge
MSLs will be required to engage in continuous learning to maintain the highest level of technical expertise within the therapeutic area they represent. As a result, the MSL will establish themselves as a reliable, trusted, resource of unbiased, accurate, up-to-date, medical and scientific knowledge.
2. Excel at customer engagement and support medical/scientific information needs of scientific experts.
This role will spend most of their time field-based and customer-facing engaging in mutually beneficial 2-way dialogues with Scientific Experts. Through emotional intelligence and a deep understanding of their customers, MSLs will act as one of the primary interfaces between Lilly medical and scientific experts to deliver the best-in-class customer experiences.
3. Strategic vision and leadership
MSLs synthesize complex data and effectively communicate meaningful clinical insights and unanswered customer questions they receive from Scientific Experts (SEs) to Lilly medical and cross-functional teams. They use creative problem-solving skills and utilize internal resources effectively to execute solutions.
4. Territory ownership
MSLs will be expected to demonstrate strategic analysis, territory mapping, planning, and prioritization to maximize efficiency. They will implement and evaluate a strategic territory plan prioritizing core MSL activity and take personal accountability for results.
Basic Requirements:
5. Advanced degree in Health Sciences (PharmD, MD or PhD in a medically related field) with at least two (2) years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience desired.
6. Masters or Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences (e.g. BSN, RPh, PA, NP) considered with at least Five (5) years of clinical, research or industry experience.
7. Field-based position requires the ability to travel up to 80% and work up to 4 to 6 weekends a year. Applicants must also live near a transport hub (airport/ train station).
8. ABPI code examination to be completed within one (1) year.

12. Share scientific and customer data via advanced presentations and demonstrate a high standard of computer skills with expertise in literature identification.
13. Effective strategic and critical thinking allows analysis, assessment and evaluation of information and interpret the impact or relevance to future states.
14. The ability to use field-based electronic or other communication tools for all aspects of the job is critical.
15. Resiliency in managing complex challenges.
16. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence and the ability to engage in professional relationship-building and networking.
17. Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and the medical education process is highly valued.
