The Role & Key Responsibilities
As part of this role you will be required to attend Surrey Police Headquarters, based just outside Guildford for typically 2 days per week. The remainder can be spent working remotely from home, but you will also be required to travel into the office, or other police locations across the two force areas as required for face-to-face meetings. We recognise that individuals may have caring responsibilities and we seek to support that; we will agree appropriate parameters to ensure that those needs can be met alongside the role requirements.
The Role
We have an exciting Business Improvement opportunity in the Joint Surrey Police & Sussex Police Change Delivery Department. The Department has been set up to provide a professional, robust and supportive change management service to both forces. The team support local, bilateral and regional change activity to ensure that the forces can provide efficient and cost-effective policing services.
You may already be a Business Improvement Consultant or similar or an experienced Business Analyst and are looking for the next step in your career. Alternatively, you already work in policing and are looking for a new career direction.
This role will primarily be focussed on supporting the delivery of the Surrey Police Operation Solve Programme. This is an extensive review of numerous areas of the policing model and involves the delivery to implementation of a range of business change and technology-enabled projects aimed to improve current and enhance future public service provision.
Key Responsibilities
Working under direction of Programme and Project Managers, you will play a key part in shaping the programme.
Day-to-day Duties And Key Responsibilities
* Managing tasks and schedules of programmes, projects and workstreams, ensuring their successful delivery.
* Establishing requirements gathering, working with stakeholders to gather needs and help them define deliverable goals and document them in a clear and concise manner.
* Work collaboratively with business areas, IT data teams and corporate teams in identifying useful data sets to understanding Force performance metrics and efficiency.
* Using data and analysis to identify root causes of business problems and opportunities.
* Designing and developing scorecards and tracking frameworks to help the Force and separate business units measure change benefits and efficiencies.
* Solutions development and recommendations evaluation of different options, assessing their feasibility and impact, and recommending the best course of action within the value for money Policing framework.
Skills & Experience
Proven business analysis or business improvement experience including evaluating options, identifying risks and opportunities, documenting benefits and experience of managing or involvement in successful change.
Experience of coaching and developing colleagues in business improvement/analysis.
Excellent communication and engagement skills with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including developing collaborative approaches within an organisation.
Evidence of designing and developing recording and analysis frameworks using database and spreadsheet facilities and interpreting complex data to identify trends, informing decision makers on risks and opportunities.
Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to think laterally and identify innovative solutions and/or process improvements.
Highly customer focussed with a good understanding of the organisations goals and objectives and an excellent team worker with a commitment to deliver results.
Degree or analysis and improvement qualification in a methodology such as LEAN, Six Sigma, BCS or equivalent or able to demonstrate proven work experience within business change, business analysis, continuous improvement or similar.
Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Word) and can demonstrate expertise in using these applications.
Ability to demonstrate high levels of integrity and professionalism, whilst dealing with confidential and sensitive information and working under pressure to tight deadlines.
This role requires travel to meetings and locations across Surrey and Sussex. The post-holder must therefore have the ability to travel to these locations when required to do so. You must have a full driving licence.
