We are seeking a compassionate, proactive and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team and work 1:1 with a Year 3 pupil who requires additional support with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s life. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support, helping the pupil to access learning, regulate emotions, and thrive in the classroom environment.

Job Opportunity: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Burnley

Contract Type: Full-time / long-term
Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities

- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day

- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour

- Build a trusting relationship with the pupil to encourage engagement and confidence

- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider staff team

- Support learning activities and adapt tasks to meet individual needs

- Promote inclusion and a positive learning experience

What We’re Looking For

- Experience working with children, ideally with SEMH or additional needs

- Calm, patient and nurturing approach

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Ability to remain positive and solution-focused in challenging situations

- Willingness to learn and take part in relevant training

- A genuine passion for supporting children’s wellbeing and development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
