The Production Planner will work within the Planning team to balance business objectives with constraints, maintaining an up-to-date plan that supports short-, medium-, and long-term objectives. The role requires fast thinking, problem solving, and the ability to collaborate across functions to deliver a cost-effective and agile plan.
The role
The Production Planner shall maintain a clear, achievable plan and coordinate production activities to support the company’s objectives. You will monitor risks, propose solutions, and drive action in response to events or trends that could impact the plan. You will engage with stakeholders across the business to capture input and drive a balanced plan within the planning remit. You will learn and master the ERP system and contribute to solutions, tools, and processes with a focus on problem solving and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role with opportunities for long-term progression.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate and cross-train to maintain understanding of planning tasks across the business and contribute to reliable planning processes.
* Cross-functional coordination with commercial, demand, supply, and operations planning, Factory Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, Warehouse, Logistics, and project teams to align the plan across timelines.
* Publish the long-, medium-, and short-term detailed plans as required by the business.
* Control plan execution, identify risks, and implement planning tools and processes to mitigate risks.
* Dynamic planning: monitor execution, replan when needed, and address issues with potential impact to the plan.
* Production scheduling: develop schedules from long-term to daily, considering all demand sources, scrap, rework, capacity, and stock availability.
* Performance reporting: measure adherence to the plan and communicate trends, risks, and proposed solutions; escalate as needed.
* Operational excellence: publish cost-effective plans that respect processes and timelines and respond efficiently to unexpected situations.
* Process improvement and problem solving: support robust processes, drive intelligent reporting, and identify opportunities across planning and production workflows; collaborate to address shortages and other challenges.

Desired Skills & Experience
* Previous experience with ERP systems.
* Understanding of supply chain and manufacturing processes and demands.
* Advanced Excel skills are fundamental.
* Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
* Experience working in manufacturing.
