Senior Quantity Surveyor – Construction Consultancy Location: London Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 (DOE) Type: Full-time, Permanent Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our London-based construction consultancy. The role is ideal for a commercial professional with extensive QS experience, preferably on hotel, refurbishment, or high-end fit-out projects. You will take ownership of commercial management for multiple projects, supporting project teams and clients with budget control, procurement, and contractual matters. Key Responsibilities Lead the commercial management of projects from inception to completion Prepare and review pre-tender estimates, cost plans, and bills of quantities Manage contract administration, including variations, claims, and change orders Monitor project financial performance, reporting on budgets, forecasts, and cash flow Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and ensure timely client invoicing Support procurement, tender evaluation, and subcontractor negotiations Liaise with clients, design teams, contractors, and stakeholders on commercial matters Mentor junior QS/SQS staff, providing guidance and training Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and best practice Requirements Proven senior QS experience on commercial, refurbishment, or hotel projects Strong understanding of JCT / NEC contracts and commercial best practices Experience with project financial reporting, cost tracking, and risk management Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills Proficient in MS Office and QS software (e.g., CostX, ConQuest, Buildsoft) Desirable Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Exposure to hotel, hospitality, or high-end refurbishment projects RICS or CIOB qualified or working towards accreditation Strong understanding of design & build, refurbishment, and fit-out processes What’s on Offer Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 depending on experience Hands-on leadership across interesting London projects Opportunity to mentor junior QS team members Clear progression to Commercial Manager or Associate Director roles Exposure to high-profile clients and multi-million-pound projects Ideal Candidate Profile You will be: A commercially confident QS with strong site and office experience Experienced in hotel, refurbishment, or fit-out projects Proactive in resolving contractual and commercial issues Keen to develop leadership skills and mentor junior colleagues
