Our client has a strong track record of delivering best in class projects for clients in both the public and private sector across a diverse range of industries – from education and healthcare, to leisure, aviation and commercial real estate. The specialist knowledge and skills of the firm's multidisciplined teams enable them to drive efficiency on every project, providing solutions that manage and reduce risk, save time and cut down on cost for clients. The firm currently has a workforce of 50 people and a turnover in excess of £5 million with ambitious plans to grow both organically and by acquisition.
The Opportunity
To support the firm with its growth ambitions, our client is looking to appoint its first ever Head of Finance. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this newly created role is a unique opportunity to join the firm at an important and exciting moment in its journey. This individual will be someone excited to embrace the challenge of establishing the function and educating and upskilling the business about the importance of good financial hygiene and discipline. This individual will also either already understand or be ambitious to learn about the sector, the market, and clients. They will take an active interest in the business and proactively look for opportunities to grow the firm's client base and profile in the market. The successful candidate will have the right amount of experience to add value immediately, offering proactive suggestions and influence outcomes; but will also have the ability to grow and develop their career and build the finance team as the business grows and requires additional support
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
* Preparation of annual and monthly budget and cashflow forecasts and weekly cashflow forecasting, monitoring and amendment
* Ownership of monthly balance sheet reconciliations (bank and cash, accruals, trade creditors, overdue trade creditors)
* Quarterly VAT return preparation and submission
* Liaising with external accountants in relation to year end preparation, corporation tax and equity directors' tax
* Administration of HMRC corporation tax, PAYE and VAT payments
* Preparation of monthly management accounts
* Oversight of all Company Secretarial matters (minutes, dividends, share certificates)
* Administration of all Companies House filings, confirmation statement
* Management of external banking and other funding relationships and ensuring compliance with banking covenants
* Encouraging good financial practices
* There will be a requirement to prepare financial reporting for monthly board meetings

The ideal candidate will be someone with an entrepreneurial attitude, keen to grow and develop themselves and progress along with the business. The new Finance Director should be someone who will add to and embody that positive culture and mindset of continuous development and improvement.
Requirements
* ACCA/ICAEW/CIMA qualified with 3 years or more experience in a similar role
* Working knowledge of Xero desirable.
* Knowledge of Navision helpful but not critical.
* A background in professional practise would be a distinct advantage
