We're on the lookout for a warm and outgoing Care Assistant to join the team at our new 52-bed home, Langtree, nestled within the Standish Care Village.
As a Care Assistant, you will support the Senior Care Practitioner and Nurse in Charge in delivering the highest standards of person‑centred care, preserving the dignity, respect and wellbeing of our residents at all times.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that residents are at the heart of care delivery and that their wishes and preferences are considered to enhance their wellbeing.
* Understand personal care planning and take responsibility for all aspects of care where required.
* Contribute to the efficient running of the home at all times.
* Understand and champion the Household Model of Care.
* Support residents to maintain relationships and connections with the local community.
* Provide the highest standard of individualised person‑centred care, treating residents with dignity, privacy and respect.
* Assist residents with personal care such as washing and dressing.
* Administer daily medicines in line with GP instructions, liaising with the Nurse in Charge and/or Senior Care Practitioner after completion.
* Undertake minor medical duties such as oral hygiene, topical cream application, skin integrity checks, catheter care and end‑of‑life care.
* Ensure that the wider team meets all residents' medical, physical, social and emotional needs.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of the residents we support.
* Develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team.
* Attend daily clinical meetings arranged by the nurse in charge.
* Participate in team meetings.
* Inform the Nurse in Charge or Senior Care Practitioner promptly of any changes in residents' needs.
* Maintain and develop relationships with residents, families, friends and other visitors to the home.
* Be responsible for health and safety, reporting hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person.
* Seek opportunities for professional and personal growth and development.
* Serve as a role model for the team and be an ambassador for the service.
* Remain professional, polite and reasonable at all times.
* Provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and visitors, and familiarise them with the home.
* Attend statutory training and any additional training as directed, remaining open to learning opportunities.
Requirements
* Experience working with advanced dementia is necessary.
* Basic understanding of dementia and how it affects those living with the disease.
* Basic knowledge of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and its fundamental standards.
