Nurse Colposcopist
The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is looking for an experienced nurse to join our Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy department on a fixed‑term basis (12 months) with a possibility of a permanent post beyond the initial term. The post holder will support the NHS Cervical Screening Programme by providing follow‑up care to women with cervical abnormalities and will act as Deputy Lead Nurse in support of the current Lead Colposcopist and Lead Nurse Colposcopist.

Main duties
* Assess and treat patients in the outpatient setting, including colposcopy, smears and Mirena coil clinics.
* Follow up biopsies and results, and coordinate care with GP and laboratory as required.
* Maintain effective communication with individuals and groups in the Women's Health department.
* Participate in MDT meetings, providing specialist advice, support and education.
* Contribute to governance, quality assurance and audit of the Colposcopy service in line with national standards.
* Manage own nurse‑led outpatient clinics and maintain safe staffing levels in the Lead Nurse’s absence.
* Identify appropriate next steps for patients and ensure subsequent appointments and investigations are booked.
* Support and deputise for the Lead Nurse Colposcopist in completing quality assurance tasks.
* Provide training in diagnostic hysteroscopy or be willing to undertake such training.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
* Accredited Colposcopist with current membership of the BSCCP.
* Leadership/management training or willingness to undertake such training.
* Recognised teaching and assessing qualification.
* MSci in Advanced Practice or working towards it.
* Non‑medical prescriber qualification.
* Training in hysteroscopy.
Experience
* At least 2 years in colposcopy, including supervising and assessing in a clinical setting.
* Experience leading nurse‑led clinics and services.
* Experience in gynecology and workforce planning.
* Experience in Hysteroscopy services (minimum 2 years).
* Resource management, clinical audit and research.
* Guideline, SOP and patient literature development.
* Significant collaboration as part of the multidisciplinary team.
