Main duties of the job
* Review the Home Treatment Team case load in the multidisciplinary setting to ensure efficient and excellent care, reduce average patient time on caseload, prevent hospital admissions, and help form effective care plans enabling crisis patients to be returned to their community teams safely.
* Weekly screening of inpatient wards and assessment of patient suitability for early discharge under the Home Treatment Team, reducing inpatient length of stay, creating bed space, and reducing out-of-county admissions and place of safety re-purposing.
* Bi-weekly medical reviews of patients under the Home Treatment Team to update care plans and consolidate diagnosis and treatment.
* Due to geography, there will be a mix of home visits and some scheduled clinics where patients in crisis are invited to attend outpatients clinics for review.
* In their Supporting Professional Activities time, the consultant may help develop the county crisis service and other aspects of emergency mental health care in Cornwall.

Qualifications
Essential
* CCT or equivalent in GA Psychiatry
Desirable
* Relevant Higher Degree e.g., MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications

* Full GMC Registration and license
* Eligibility for Section 12 and AC Approval
* Inclusion (or eligibility for inclusion) on the Specialist Register or Specialty Trainee within 6 months of gaining CCT

* Evidence of teaching experience at postgraduate and/or undergraduate level
