If your CNC skills go beyond running existing programs, this is worth a look. Our client, a Dundee-based precision engineering company, needs someone who can turn, mill, grind, and program from scratch, not just operate.
What makes this different
This isnt a button-pressing role. The work is varied, the tolerances are tight, and the components matter. Youll be expected to interpret complex drawings, make decisions about setups, and occasionally tell the engineers when something isnt going to machine the way they think it will.
What youll be doing
Setting and operating CNC turning, milling, and grinding machines
Writing, editing, and optimising CNC programs (Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain)
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings including GD&T
Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment
Supporting engineers with manufacturability and drawing interpretation
What youll need
A relevant qualification apprenticeship, SVQ/NVQ, or City & Guilds alongside solid, hands-on CNC experience in a precision environment. You should be comfortable across multiple machine types and confident enough to program from scratch when needed. Experience with CAD/CAM software is useful. So is a background in high-tolerance, high-consequence manufacturing.
