Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and support to individuals in various settings, including nursing homes, care homes, and assisted living facilities. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those living with conditions such as Alzheimer's and dementia.
Duties
* Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Administer medication as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
* Support clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
* Assist with mobility and transportation needs, including driving clients to appointments or activities.
* Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
* Implement behaviour management strategies as needed to support clients with challenging behaviours.
* Maintain accurate records of patient care, including observations and changes in condition.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals in case management and the development of individual care plans.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
Skills
* Experience in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with medication administration is essential.
* Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and hospice care practices is an advantage.
* Strong caregiving skills, including heavy lifting capabilities when assisting clients with mobility.
* Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
* Ability to prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements.
