Are you a newly qualified Pharmacy Technician or an existing Pharmacy Technician looking for a new challenge? We are looking for a Foundation Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Dorset Healthcare.
As part of this role you will work in both Physical and Mental Health settings as well as supporting our community teams such as Hospital at Home. You will receive full support to develop your skills and knowledge through our in‑house Foundation Pharmacy Technician Training Programme.
This role will be primarily based in the Poole, Bournemouth and Sandbanks Areas, although you may on occasion be required to travel across Dorset.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the Senior Localities Pharmacy Technician and the Dispensary Manager St Ann’s to provide an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service to all wards, units, clinics and departments.
* Provide a quality and consistent service, contributing to the safe and secure handling of medicines within the Trust.
* Participate in medicines‑management/optimisation services at ward level according to protocol and procedures, supporting the Virtual Ward service.
* Provide advice to healthcare professionals regarding prescribing and stock supplies, within the guidance of standard operating procedures and within your limits.
* Assist the nurse in charge at Clozapine clinics that operate Point of Care Blood Analysis and provide assurance to the Chief Pharmacist that procedures are correctly adhered to.
* Obtain foundation pharmacy technician competencies in dispensary and medicines optimisation services as defined by relevant frameworks, with full training and support.
* Engage in continuing professional development to consistently meet the requirements of the role.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. The Trust will cover the cost of this check.
* Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
* Candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are not eligible to apply for this position.
* Eligible candidates must hold the qualifications of a Pharmacy Technician and be either newly qualified or already qualified.
