Offer description

Location: Manchester (Hybrid) Reports to: Founder & CEO Mission Build and lead the Six Stories product engine to deliver cohesive, design-led, commercially successful category-defining bestsellers that strengthens our brand handwriting, deepens emotional connection with our customer, and unlocks meaningful newness across 2026/27 and beyond. Role Overview The Product Director at Six Stories brings our vision to life in physical form. They are the guardian of our product handwriting, translating emotion, intention and meaning into high-quality pieces chosen for some of the most significant moments in a woman’s life. Six Stories is not a fashion house. We are a modern love house. Our product is never trend-led or created for the sake of seasonality. Bridal is deeply personal and sentimental, and every piece must feel considered, purposeful and worthy of the moment it’s worn. While Six Stories leads with emotion and intention, the Product Director is accountable for creating product that performs, building best-in-class ranges, developing long-term bestsellers, and delivering launches that materially move the business forward. Guided by our values of joy, authenticity, community and quality, you will know when to create something timeless and when to introduce newness that drives excitement, demand and growth. As Product Director, you will bridge vision and execution, working closely with the Founder, Brand, Commercial and Supply teams to ensure everything we create feels unmistakably Six Stories and delivers measurable impact. Key Responsibilities Product Vision & Category Growth Define, evolve and protect the Six Stories product handwriting across all categories. Build and scale hero products and bestsellers that anchor the assortment and drive repeat purchase. Translate brand and customer insight into product that is emotionally resonant and commercially high-performing. Shape clear category strategies that support growth in the UK, expansion into the US, and extension into core bridal. End-to-End Product Development Own the full product lifecycle from concept through to production. Translate design ideas into viable, scalable product through technical development, costing and supplier management. Lead sampling, fittings and approvals, ensuring quality, intent and execution are met consistently. Balance creativity with margin, timelines and operational reality. Commercial & Wholesale Ownership Own product strategy across DTC and wholesale channels. Partner closely with Trading and Merch to ensure product decisions support growth, margin and sell-through. Support wholesale presentations and buyer conversations with clear, confident product storytelling. Identify and shape strategic brand collaborations from a product-first perspective, ensuring any partnerships feel intentional, premium and aligned with the Six Stories brand world. Lead the product development element of collaborations, from concept through execution, balancing creativity, commercial viability and brand integrity. Supplier & Partner Relationships Lead and develop relationships with global suppliers and manufacturers. Identify new partners to support innovation, quality and future growth. Own cost negotiations, margin tracking and issue resolution. Team Leadership & Ways of Working Lead, mentor and develop the team. Set clear development calendars, decision frameworks and ways of working. Create robust but agile processes that support scale without stifling creativity. Act as a calm, confident decision-maker within cross-functional teams. What Great Looks Like A design-led product visionary who is equally commercially intelligent. A confident leader who builds and develops high-performing product, buying and design teams. Deeply customer-obsessed talks about fit, function, confidence and trust, with an instinctive understanding of the female form, designing product that supports women rather than simply dressing them. A strong partner to Trade, able to align product vision with commercial strategy and margin goals. A product world-builder who can shape a distinctive, cohesive and scalable product handwriting across categories. A proactive problem-solver who makes clear decisions quickly, balancing creativity with delivery. Relentlessly focused on quality, craftsmanship and execution, with high standards that never slip. Calm, clear and accountable, a steady product leader in a high-growth environment. Comfortable operating within a founder-led dynamic, translating vision into reality with confidence and trust. Experience Required Senior experience leading product development within a fashion, lifestyle or adjacent consumer brand. A strong design background, with clear taste and a proven ability to translate concept into commercially viable product. Demonstrated ownership of margin, costing and product performance. A track record of creating bestsellers and needle-moving launches. Experience managing supplier and manufacturing relationships at scale. Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams across product, buying and design. Experience partnering closely with Trade, Merch or Planning teams to deliver measurable commercial outcomes. Experience working with wholesale partners and international markets strongly preferred. US market experience beneficial. SUCCESS AFTER 12 MONTHS A clear, cohesive and scalable product handwriting is defined and consistently executed across all categories. Multiple hero products and bestsellers are established, driving meaningful category growth and repeat purchase. Product ranges deliver against margin targets and commercial performance, with clear accountability and confidence. The product team operates as a high-performing, well-structured unit, with clear roles, pace and momentum. Product and Trade are fully aligned, with a development calendar that supports both storytelling and revenue growth. Supplier partnerships are strong, trusted and supporting innovation, quality and scale. Wholesale partners are confident in the product range, with improved sell-through and category credibility. The founder is no longer involved in day-to-day product decisions; the product engine runs smoothly with clear guardrails and trust. Six Stories product is recognised internally and externally as best-in-class, emotionally resonant and commercially strong. OUR VIBES If you associate with these, we want to hear from you: We’re scrappy and tenacious - we roll up our sleeves and make things happen. We put the customer first - her confidence, comfort and experience guide every decision. We think big - because product should move the needle, not just fill the calendar. We move fast - we test, refine and double down on what works. We value calm, considered clarity - strong opinions, loosely held. We back each other and enjoy the journey - building something meaningful together. Why This Role Matters This role sits at the heart of Six Stories’ next phase of growth. You will help define how our product feels, looks and evolves. Shaping a future-facing, emotionally-led product strategy that supports rapid growth across the UK, US and future global markets. If you think you'll be the perfect fit for the role, please tell us why we should hire you in your cover letter.
