We’re currently recruiting a Senior Lead Pharmacy Technician to drive our clinical trials aseptic services at Hammersmith Hospital. In this pivotal role, you’ll co ordinate all pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials prepared in the aseptic unit—liaising with research teams and sponsors, designing robust dispensing procedures, and ensuring impeccable records and audit trails.
You’ll champion safe, compliant practice grounded in GMP and GCP, including advice on aseptic preparation, including of advanced therapies, and keep trials running smoothly through great collaboration and meticulous oversight.

If you are a registered pharmacy technician with broad experience, including of aseptics, but have limited experience in clinical trials, we also offer a structured Band 5 to 6 progression programme to support the right candidate to develop into the role within 12 months.
Main duties of the job
1. You’ll bring technical excellence to day to day aseptic services, including optimising our CMM pharmacy system with well designed worksheets and labels for trial products.
2. As an educator and role model, you’ll develop technicians and assistants, deliver on the job training, and maintain a strong CPD portfolio backed by our commitment to professional growth.
3. In this highly specialist role you will advise and assist research teams to set-up and run clinical trials which will give our patients access to the latest potential new treatments anywhere in the UK. You will have your own portfolio of studies to deliver and the ability to act independently but with the backing of expert support in the clinical trials and dispensary teams in Pharmacy and the close relations we have with the specialist research teams.
4. Our team works across a broad range of commercial, academic, and Imperial-sponsored trials, screening and delivering a variety of specialised therapies to patients.
5. With circa 400 active trials managed by passionate professionals, you'll find an exciting landscape with the emerging development of personalised and precision medicines. We have a global reputation for breaking new grounds in clinical and biomedical research, are a ECMC (Early Cancer Medicine Centre) and are the largest BRC in the UK.

Education
Essential criteria
6. Recognised pharmacy technicians qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
7. Registered Technician with the GPhC
8. Mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC
Desirable criteria
9. Accredited Checking Technician (or to be achieved within 12 months) for both PN and chemotherapy (in and final check)
Experience
Essential criteria
10. Post qualification: solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice including aseptic services, ward/distribution services, dispensary and clinical trials
11. Previous experience in training others
12. Previous experience in looking after pharmacy computer systems
Skills
