Senior Electrical Design Engineer - (Wastewater Treatment Projects)

About the Role
You will lead in a one‑team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience. You will coordinate the design team to deliver the required outputs for a portfolio of projects under the guidance of a design manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Report to the Design Manager.
* Produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants as part of a multi‑disciplined team.
* Assist in all aspects of electrical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
* Produce procurement specifications for electrical equipment; perform cable calculations and create detailed design construction drawings.
* Project‑manage third‑party designs and provide design assistance to installation and commissioning teams, liaising with clients and subcontractors.
* Support project delivery while embracing a “one team” culture.
* Ensure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to.
* Monitor design‑delivery performance and efficiency, adjusting and reacting as necessary to ensure targets are achieved and the MIDP is kept up to date.
* Produce electrical design outputs as required.
* Ensure Glanua’s & the client’s technical requirements are met throughout the design.
* Conduct regular meetings with project delivery teams to allocate resources, monitor the plan and adjust as necessary in consultation with the project delivery teams.
* Monitor and update Design Change Control.
* Liaise between mechanical and civil & structural designers.
* Contribute to the growth and development of the company, including expansion of the direct‑delivery model (business case development, gap analysis, recruitment, structuring).
* Provide robust leadership and support to site teams.
* Show eagerness to learn and progress in your own career while mentoring junior staff.
* Perform other duties as required from time to time.
Qualifications & Skills
* Chartered or Incorporated member of the IET with extensive experience in water or wastewater, non‑infrastructure and infrastructure design.
* Knowledge of the Designer and Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.
* Experience managing design quality control processes.
* Experience developing a programme and budget and monitoring progress against both.
* Ability to communicate clearly and lead a multidisciplinary team.
* Proven record in mentoring and developing staff in design.
* Experience with Thames & Yorkshire Water’s electrical design standards documents is an advantage but not essential.
* Provide mentorship to junior/graduate electrical design engineers.
* Strong team leader & decision maker with proven experience.
* Water and wastewater design experience highly desirable.
* Commercial experience is desirable.
* Interest in developing a career within an industry‑leading organisation.
* Ability to work as part of a team in project delivery and provide input at team meetings.
* Ability to use own initiative, solve problems and adapt as issues arise.
* Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
* Full driving licence.
