About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our secondary school team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to make a positive impact on students’ education while gaining valuable experience in a school environment.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes when teachers are absent, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment. This role is ideal for graduates, career changers, or those considering a future in teaching.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise classes across all key stages (KS3 and KS4) in the absence of subject teachers
2. Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain on task
3. Maintain classroom discipline and promote positive behaviour
4. Support students with their learning and answer questions where appropriate
5. Take accurate registers and report any concerns to relevant staff
6. Assist with general school duties as required
7. Follow school policies and procedures at all times
Essential Requirements
8. Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including English and Maths)
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
10. Ability to engage with young people aged 11-16
11. Confident classroom presence and behaviour management skills
12. Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subjects
13. Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
14. Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
